one side lower

I just installed new oem springs and bilstein HD shocks. My cars left side seems to be lower by half an inch than the right side.(measured at the wheel gaps to about halfway on the tire.)Is this a common problem with f bodys.Car has never been in an accident. But i do place it on jack stands every winter when i store it.

THANKS

Re: one side lower

Definitly should not be lower, you aren't on a slope/slant of any kind are you? That would be the easier solution, if thats not it try letting the springs break in and see if it changes.

Re: one side lower

A lot of F-body owners have this problem, myself included. Most chalk it up to poor engineering.

Re: one side lower

Could be installation related. Both the front and rear springs mate to a "bushing" that has an orientation to the end of the coil spring. If you didn't line these up properly, it could cause an increase in height.

Re: one side lower

My car is lower on the pass. side by about 1 1/4" and I even tried swapping the driver spring to the pass. side and that made no diference.

Re: one side lower

My right rear was about 5/8" low. I've got the GC weight jackers and used those to even it up.

Re: one side lower

I went to a gm dealer to check the the height of my car .The mechanic said that a half inch off on one side is normal by gm standards.

Re: one side lower

Yeah same here, pass side is like 1.5 inches lower, dont' know why, my rubber bushings are in relation to the end coil last time I checked maybe while putting it in the thing moved, I'll see, might need to modify the rubber thing.

Re: one side lower

Mine is like that also. Lower in the right rear, but the front is fine. Took out aftermarket springs, went back to stock w/rubber hose instead of isolator and it still sits lower on the right. Wondering if the PHB could be pulling it down. If that doesn't work I'll use the isolator on 1 side and the hose on the other.

What sucks is thats where the exhaust runs over the axel.

My car is lower by about an inch on the passenger side. I've heard that they specifically engineered it that way since typically there is only one person in the car, so when the driver sits in the car, it levels out. I notice that whenever I get out of my car, the drivers side raises up by about an inch.

Re: one side lower

Did you install them correctly?? They are supposed to be orented to a specific corner, I believe. LR, LF, etc.. Just my 0.02....

When I was in techschool, a guy did a set of springs. He installed the wrong spring in the wrong corner and the same happened to his car. Was high on the right side.

Re: one side lower

Just a suggestion if your car is off by a reasonable amount on one side just go to your local alignment/suspension shop and get some aluminum spacers. Mine was about an inch lower on the pass. side so i went and bought an aluminum 1 inch spacer that goes over the metal spring perch on the rear and it has a holder made on the other side to hold your spring. Now my car sits about level across the back. If anyone is interested i have one more of these spacers i'll sell for $15 shipped.
