old z28 springs vs. SS springs
I'm getting my 94 z28 ready for auto-x, and I need to find out some info about springs. The car has to stay at stock ride height. It cannot be lowered.
Are 94 Z28 springs the same as SS springs? My Z28 springs are 13 years old, and I imagine they are pretty worn out. Would I gain any handling advantage by switching to newer Z28 or SS springs?

Just because spings are 13 years old does not mean they are worn out. If they are not sagging, then they are fine.
What year of SS are you talking about also? Some years got 1LE springs and others didn't.

If they're not sagging they are fine. If you want more rate at the stock height (or a little taller), get 1LE. Some SS's had the same springs that Z28's got, and some SS's and Z28 had 1LE springs.
If you want to lower there are other alternatives.

The bilsteins valving isnt meant for lowering springs if you want to run those shocks either stick with stock springs, talk to sam strano about revalved hds (but hes out of stock and will be for a while), or go for some adjustable konis.

You can't run aftermarket springs in Stock. You can't even run alternate factory springs unless you convert the entire car to the option package with which those springs were available.
In theory you could convert the car to 1LE specs so you could run 1LE springs. The entire car would have to converted to a 1LE to be legal however.
Frankly, that seems like a lot of money and work for little benefit since the 1LEs have only slightly stiffer (360 vs 292) front springs.
