Now it should hook!

I had posted in the Drag Racing section that I was having trouble hooking at the last track outing...Well, it pays to have your suspension tweaked in by someone who does this everyday...I went to a local guy who is not a sponsor so I guess I can't give the name, but man did he ever set me straight, so to speak...

First, we found that my pinion angle, which I thought was at 2 deg negative, was actually 1 deg positive...He set it at 1.5 deg negative with a digital angle finder with the suspension loaded; Then he welded on the Spohn relo brackets using the same angle finder to get them in the exact orientation and set the LCAs in the 2nd hole...Then he went on to square the rear under the car, which was 1/2" off on the driver's side...

I know this seems like basic stuff, but I thought I had it ok...It was a real education for me and man does this car feel different! The reason I'm posting this is that it seems our suspensions are constantly overlooked. Just bolting on the parts does not get you there. We spend tons on the motor stuff and suspensions are the afterthought. Hopefully I'll see an improvement at our next track outing and I'll post the results...

Let us know how it works at the track. Getting the suspension dialed in should make a world of differnce. I run my pinion @-2.5*, Madman told me how to set it up(correctly), but I thought I had it @-2* with BMR's directions was actually 1*. I could really tell a difference.

We'll see how it does on the stock springs/shocks...There are some QA1s in the works I think, but I want to see what I can eek out of my current set up, post those 60's and then switch to the serious stuff...We are also going with 3" true duals in the near future and see what it does over a Borla cat back with no plate...I am hopefull for a sub 1.50 60' the way it sits now...

...dead hooking to a 1.35 on the dyno got me a 10.98...which is real intriguing now....mmmmmm

Re: Now it should hook!

I have a supplier pricing everything out...It ain't cheap...We're looking at 12 way QA1 type Rs with 275# springs and QA1 rear adjustable coil overs with 150# springs...but I really want to see what the stock spring/shock (decarbons) will do...If I went 1.59s with it all set up wrong and no relo brackets...who knows what will happen...probably 1.60s

Thats the same set up I have in the front. You will be pleased. I'll end up swapping the rears out one of these days when $$$ isn't as tight.
