Is this normal or is something wrong?
Is this normal or is something wrong?
I was out cruzin last weekend and almost rearended my friends IROC! I was goin about 30-35mph, and a bunch cars stopped in an intersection with a greenlight. I used both feet to push the brake pedal down as hard as possible, but my car kept going for about another 20ft. The tires made not even one screech, and the ABS never kicked in. It was like the calipers or whatever didnt apply enough pressure to the pads. The break pads are fairly new and I was told they have a lifetime warranty. The car stops fine when in light traffic, but not when I really get on the brakes. Is that kinda normal, or do I need some bigger brakes?
Re: Is this normal or is something wrong?
how does the pedal feel?? have you bled the brakes lately?? It sounds like your pedal is probably rubbery and has some play??you may have bursted a brake line..lift the car and have someone hit the brakes and see if fluid pisses out anywhere..Just hads the same problem on a buddys car..turned out he had a tiny break in a line and was slowly pissin out brake fluid..if that helps
Re: Is this normal or is something wrong?
There is no obvious leakage, but I will check for it. Im not sure but I think I've heard that some performance cams dont produce enough vaccum to operate some of the power accesories, like brakes. Is there a possibility of that?
Re: Is this normal or is something wrong?
yea, like they all said, check for a leak in any hoses, or calipers/wheel cylinders
and check if theres a leak in your vacuum brake booster
what year make and model is the car?
abs wont kick in until a wheel is going to lock
and you're not generating enough braking effort to lock a wheel
ideally u should be able to lock the wheels when slamming on the brakes, better to have more than enough stopping power than not enough right?
