new slotted rotors

i got new slotted rotors and hawk hps pads, and planning on installing them this week, do i have to do anything like break in the new rotors like i heard on some new braking systems or no?

Only "break in" the pads, burnish, i did new rotors, rotorworks, and hawk ceramics, and just did the burnish and they work fine. Don't be a dummy like me though and think you don't need no-squeek, USE IT. Or just use wd-40, on inner and outer pads after you put it back over the rotor.

WD-40 is a penetrant not a lubricant. First time your brakes get to temp it'll be gone, get lube designed for brakes.

Follow the break in procedure that Hawk recommends. If it didn't come with your pads, I'm sure they'll have it on their website.

I've got hawks on my C5 calipers... break-in was very basic and you'd probably do most of it without thinking. Something along the lines of - drive around town for 20 minute using the brakes normally, then do a couple 60-5 braking runs (without coming to a complete stop).

Car now brakes VIOLENTLY... as in anything not belted down gets shifted as far forward as it can go... and passengers end up putting their hands up involuntarily, pretty cool when compared to the LT1 brakes that couldn't even lock up the 265's in front (and still can't lock up the 295's in the back).
