Need a good affordable brake setup

I need a good affordable brake setup to put on my car, right now it has stock V6 Brakes and the car run a 12.1 with street tires. recently i became very ill and cannot work for a while, I too kthe car apart a few weeks ago then this came up and i dont have as much money as i was planning on spending. I know these brakes are not cutting it for the speed of the car, now with the tubular front end i just put in its gonna be even a tad faster. I was gonna spring for one of the $1500+ plus front brake kits from baer or wilwood but now i dont know what im gonna do , i kinda need something under 500 bucks if someone can give me some suggestions. this has been a hard *** winter.

Convert it to an LS1 set-up. The fronts are dual piston calipers with a 1 inch larger diameter rotor and Ive heard it makes a nice difference. Ive seen people on here that did a complete front swap with pads and rotors for under 200. Im gathering parts to do mine now (front and rear) and have a bit more than that in it but you could definitely do the fronts (80% of your braking power) with good rotors and pads for under 500 easily.

I don't know about the GTO setups, I haven't heard of anyone trying that. I agree with the above post for the LS1 upgrade. That is the best bang for the buck brake setup you can do. I picked up the complete front brake assemblies that even had new pads and rotors put on for 150 bucks from another board member.

The GTO bolt pattern is a little different so the rotors won't just slip over the existing hub.

You'll need the spindles as well. The LT1 hubs will interchange. Here is a good link as well for the install: http://www.fbody.com/tech/details.cgi?id=30
