Multiple questions plz read

Well since the slomaro doesnt go an faster no matter what I do, I am considering suspension/ wheel and have a few questions.

What is the biggest wheels perferably 18-19 inch that will fit a 94?(lookin for backspacing and widths)

What is the max tire size that will fit?

Does anyone make front and rear coilovers ?

Any companies offer a prefab rollcage?

Are bigger brakes part of the 1LE package?

I am looking at getting the full BMR suspension kit and would like to know if anyone is currently running it on the street?

thx

Re: Multiple questions plz read

There are people running 20's on 4th Gens. Check the recent posts on "Wheels and Tires" for photos of one. Look through the "Appearance" forum for users of 20's.

Typical offsets are:]

9" wide - 45-56mm
10" wide - 48-52mm
11" wide - 50mm

That keeps the wheels under the fenders, and not too close to the steering knuckle in the front or the inner fender liner in the back.

Numerous people have used 315 section width tires in the back (some even use them on all 4 corners). They MAY require some sort of hammering of the inner fender liners, recentering of the body over the axle with an adjustable panhard rod, and cutting the projecting edges off the jounce bumper brackets. I've also seen some people fit 345's in the back.... I have no idea how they did it.

Your car already has front "coil over" spring/shock setup in the front.... they just aren't adjustable for ride height. The QA1/HAL shock are available with adjustable ride height for the front. Spohn Performance sells a coil-over conversion for the rear, using the QA1/HAL shocks.

Are you looking for a legal roll cage (10- to 12- or more points, NHRA certified) required when running 9.99 or quicker and with trap speeds over 135MPH? Or do you possible mean a legal roll bar (5 to 8 points) that is required under 11.50? Wolfe Race Craft makes the most popular 4th Gen setups.

Sort of puzzling.... you've written the car off as a "slomaro".... and going to wheel diameters that will sap any performance it has, then you are adding the weight of a roll cage to slow it down even more..... seems odd. Is this all for "show"?

1LE brakes are identical to non 1LE brakes.

BMR makes a wide variety of products.... what ones in particular are you looking at? I suspect that 30-40% of the people who frequent these forums have BMR parts on their street cars, and a similar number have Spohn Performance products. Which ones you are interested in, and how you plan to use the car will determine what parts will be useful for your car.

Oh I forgot to mention it will be getting a stroker next year, either a 400hp 383 or possibly a 520hp 396. I am thinkin an 8point cage and atleast the rear BMR suspension and subframe connectors, but I am unsure wether to get he relocated torque arm option. Spohn Performance products I will need to check out. Its gonna be an everyday driver that I can lean on when I feel the need. I have installed BMR LCA's, torque arm, and sub frames on a friends car so I know it works. (I wish the driver side actually would be flush to the front frame during the install tho)

So are those offsets and widths generic? btw the rims I am considering are the new Weld racing forged light weight 17-20's.

I'd get the relocated torque arm if I were you... unless you want to snap your tailshaft. Especially if you get the bigger motor.

Oh I like the spohn torque arm but how does it compare to the BMR mounted to the subframe connectors?
I dont see spohn claiming any 60ft's tho.

Here's a Spohn equipped 3,550# convertible pulling a 1.30 60-ft.:

I know there's a guy in central PA (Mikey with a red LS1) running 1.2X 60s's with Steve Spohn's parts.

You still need to understand the difference between an 8-point roll bar and a roll cage..... you aren't going to run 9's with what you've got planned.

Those offsets will put that width wheel in the correct position, under the fender.

Re: Multiple questions plz read

so whats the difference??? a cage continues forward of the driver? (semantics really they both do the same thing , just one offers more protection) LOL its like calling an engine a motor...
I never said I was expecting to run 9's in fully loaded slomaro.
I also never said just a stroker was gonna be the end of it.

If you want to play games and jerk people around with how much power you're going to make, and argue about "semantics", your on your own. I was simply trying to find out what you really meant, but apparently that's asking too much.

Good luck.

Well thats a poor attitude Injneer, but I guess I should say somthin in response. I dont see the need for your attitude.

Was I supposed to have a target hp?
If thats the case then I will say I have a min. 400hp, no idea what power adder yet. I would think you would know its always one more thing when building up a car.

As for semantics I was pointing out that some ppl call the same thing by different names, but the concept was the same.

BTW-What is the difference between a rollcage and rollbar?

Apparently you didn't bother to even read what I wrote.... its explained in my initial response, in "bold".

I've got almost 20,000 posts, and 99% of those are helping people out. Some people appreciate the help, others don't. Live and learn. Next time I'll know better.

Re: Multiple questions plz read

It was a legit question ,based on pics I have seen I assume it extends forward of the driver. I never had a rollcage or roll bar and you only listed how many "points". I do apprecitate the help, but why be rude with a camaro newb?

You have to understand where Fred is coming from....He's a well respected Moderator who has helped countless people on this board...You were not really making a whole lot of sense with some of your questions...If you want to drag race then why would you entertain using 19" wheels? Stay with 16s or go to 15s to get some side wall to help you launch....

I wouldn't worry about the roll bar until you need it. But do your suspension with a goal in mind...You want a street strip car, a street only car, a show car, or an all out race car? As far as whose parts to go with. I love Spohn's stuff. I live local to them and they make their own stuff, have great customer service and have good prices. My neighbor uses BMR and it seems like good quality, too. Regardless of who you go with get the TA that mounts off of the transmission...I split my tailshaft on the dyno at 400rwhp and its no fun.

From my experience Spohns stuff works for me. My suspension consists of the following and its mostly a street car with some track time in the Spring/Fall:

Stock springs, stock Decarbon shocks, stock front sway bar w/ poly end links, Hotchkis welded SFCs, Hotchkis panhard bar (Hotchkis stuff was on the car when I got it and works good, but its $$$), Spohn tunnel brace mounted TA, Spohn adjustable LCAs with rod ends, Spohn 1" chrome-moly rear sway bar with poly bushings/end links. Car 60's in the 1.60s on 255 50 16 M/T DRs with 16x8 wheels all around...

Good luck with your car...

You also need to understand that as a "Moderator", I can read your "Deleted" post..... most people don't think I'm an "***", but I'm sure a few do. I just tend to ignore people who feel that way..... no problem.

Cool I didnt know you could do that Injneer. Reguardless this is the first time you have barked at me and pulled out the "I'm a Moderator" card. Hell you've helped answer my questions before and very well I must say. THX

ABA383- I have my Mustang to race , which has 15" D/R's. I just want to make this car fast , look good and have some protection if a rollover happens.
The Welds I use have ford and chevy bolt pattern, that way if the Stang is down I can still have a car to run at the track.
