Moser Rearend

I am wantin to get a new rearend for my car just to strengthin it up more. I have heard of people shorting there rearend to get a bigger lip on the wheel, and i think moser has choices on there website for my car, but my question is will shorting it through off the geometery of the car (where the shocks mount and everything else). Mainly i just don't want to do a whole lot of modifying just because i want i bigger lip. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Just buy a 3rd Gen rear axle assembly.... its 3-4" narrower than the 4th Gen. It won't throw off anything.... the spring, shock, torque arm, LCA, sway bar and panhard rod mountings on the rear axle assembly are identical between the 3rd Gen and the 4th Gen. Brake mountings will be different, but they can be swapped.

I was over at Dan Burk's place earlier today, and he told me that the 3rd gen rear is 2" narrower. He knows because when he ordered a 12-bolt for his '84, they accidentally sent him one for a 4th gen, and it was 2" too wide.
