master cylinder question

do you need a scan tool to remove the break master cylinder? i heard someone say that but i don't know how true it is.

Scan tool? The break master cylinder is held on by 2 bolds. Disconnect the break lines and the 2 bolts and your done.

Are you possible confusing the ABS motor with the brake master cylinder? There isn't a single wire connected to the master cylinder.... why would you need a scanner? On the other hand, the ABS motor assembly may need to have the individual motors "homed" with a Tech-2 (or similar advanced bi-directional scanner) when service is done.

And of course...... "brake" questions belong in "Suspension, Chassis and Brakes", so I'll move the post there.

I know this is an old post, but... you would need a scan tool to bleed the ABS on car with traction control.
