LT1 Rear Brake Upgrade with Stock Front

Hi Board-

I upgraded my rear brakes on my 94 with some powerstop rotors and pads. I found out I had a sticking caliper and replaced that as well. My front brakes are still stock. I am planning on doing a ls1 / powerstop upgrade when the brakes are due.

The issue is, the cars seems to shudder sometimes under light application of brakes, kinda like the back is stopping harder than the front. Overall, the car stops on a dime, it just "feels" different. Anyone had this issue?

Did you just replace one caliper, not both? General rule of thumb: when replacing suspension or brake components it is best to do the same per axle. So if if you replace rear driver caliper, you should do the rear passenger caliper too.

Good chance your rear brakes are stopping better than the fronts with upgraded pads and new rotors. I'd just try and get your front brakes changed, flush out all your brake fluid and be sure to bleed the entire system well.

Rear Brakes

I had heard that with rotors and pads before, but not with Calipers...

I did bleed the system, and will be adding SS lines and LS1 front brakes soon.

I am thinking I will just deal with it until I get the $$$ for the new hardware.
