Re: lt1 ball joints

Upper ball joint is riveted in place, the replacement ball joint will come with bolts and nuts to replace. The lower ball joint is pressed in place. You can remove the lower arm and take it to a shop to have it pressed out and the new one in. I believe some of the auto stores will lone you a tool to press out/in yourself; I've read several posts that this can be an adventure.

Re: lt1 ball joints

I just installed BMR LCA's this weekend and it is a PITA to mess with stock ball joints, We used the pickle fork at a 45* angle and a sledge to break the joint free and then we installed the BMR's which thankfully come with the joints allready pressed in.

Re: lt1 ball joints

Oh yeah that 45* angle was down, as in pushing down on the A arm.

Harbor Freight sells a "press" to separate ball joints; there's 2 sizes and there about $8 each. Piece of cake and doesn't destroy the seals if you're going to replace the ball joints.
