LS1 rear brakes

Are LS1 rear brakes better than the LT1's? I know that the fronts have larger rotors (13"?) and the calipers are 4 piston, but what about the backs? Also can any part of them be swapped for the front?

Re: LS1 rear brakes

From what i've read so far, and I could be wrong, there is nothing to gain by switching to LS1 rear brakes.

Personally i'm looking to ditch my LS1 rears for LT1 rears just for ease of finding a 15" drag wheel.

LS1 rears suck *** IMO. You can't seem to find anybody with an LS1 that runs anything but Bogarts which are astronomically overpriced IMO. Some people seem to run the 7.5" convo pros but other than that - good luck finding someone that will steer you in the right direction for 15" rims on LS1 rears.

Search for my username and LS1 brakes - you'll see how many times i've asked and how many replies i've gotten. Also check on ls1tech and ls1.com - NADA for information.

LS1 front brakes are not 13 inch rotors. Also, the calipers are two piston, not four piston. As far as the backs, the rotors and calipers are very similarly sized. The only advantage to LS1 brakes is the drum-in-hat parking brake system, which is better than the LT1 setup. Is it worth it to switch designs(and all the parts you have to buy to do it)... not in my opinion.

Re: LS1 rear brakes

From a performance stand point, the rear sees so little action its pointless.

As for the "LS1 rears suck *** IMO. You can't seem to find anybody with an LS1 that runs anything but Bogarts." comment, you need to open your eyes. There are LS1s running many more wheel brands than that. Some starting for under $200/each.

Re: LS1 rear brakes

thanks for the inputs guys. I was getting a deal on the rear rotors, but I am looking to change the front brake to LS1 brakes. So i guess I'll keep looking for the fronts.

i wouldn't do the rears, it seems like a lot of work for no real gain. The fronts on the other hand
