LS1 Brake Upgrade w/ PIX :D

I did this mod by myself in under 3 hours, (not including painting) with a normal ratchet set. very easy to do. the lower balljoints took some hammering and PB Blaster but they came off with ease after a few wacks. I got the rotors and pads from R1 Concepts on ebay, for 100$. You only need one other person to help bleed brakelines. Brakes went on smoothly and stop on a DIME! very noticeable difference! Lt1 and LS1 spindles look simlilar but you do need to get an alignment afterwards. Car drives strait but the steering wheel is slightly crooked when going strait.

sanded, and cleaned using brake cleaner, works like a charm

painting calipers, using high temp caliper paint, clearcoat afterwards

painting brakets BLACK + clearcoat

only had to remove 3 balljoint bolts, brakes lines, and ABS sensors

before

after

looking good. stops on a dime.

No, don't go the ebay route on the caliper decals. Definetly go with decals from Brent Franker, he is a supporting vendor on the site and offers flawless customer service.

Gotta love brake upgrades, one of the best mods I've done on my car.

I have the LS1 front brakes too. I now have the rear brakes and LS1 spare tire too, they just need to be put on. Looks good and really stops better huh?

I have the chrome decals from Ebay and they look great and have not worn off a bit.

Looks good. i really wanted some slotted/drilled rotors cause they look so cool but they are so prone to cracking i passed. The swap is very very easy and goes pretty quick. Heck i bleed the brakes twice and i was good to go. I wonder if your spindles might be bent because after i installed mine i took my car to the alignment shop and they said it was still spot on after the last time they aligned it. The brakes make a huge difference when it comes to braking and looks.

Very nice work. I still have to install mine, been procrastinating on it. I plan on putting on some Camaro decals once they are done, now I just have to get some different rims since nobody will be able to see the calipers with the factory "fat spokes."

The LS1 and LT1 spindles have identical dimensions except for the caliper mounts right??? I don't know why my allignment is off, im hoping nothing is bent.

i did the swap to two different cars and the alignment was off on both after the swap. I think it is just differences in manufacturing tolerances and the like. the alignment guys said the install looked good and they got it aligned fine so im not too worried
