Lower Ball Joint??

I had a new lower ball joint installed and I noticed that the rubber boot was on the outside of the lower control arm. So I can just pull it off, and put it back on the ball joint stud. Did they correctly install the rubber boot? I would have thought that it would have been on the inside part of the lower control arm so I can't pull it off and so the grease doesn't come out of it. I know the steering knuckle will hold it in place once I install that, but I was just curious. Thanks a lot.

The rubber (grease cover) should be between the upper surface of the control arm and the Spindle bottom. Ther should be a grease fitting on the lower surface that's either flush. or protruding out. Some lower joints the fitting stays flush inside the lower part of the joint, then pops out when a new joint is needed/needs maintenance.

So, I should be able to remove the rubber boot without removing the ball joint? It should be free until I put the steering knuckle back on? Thanks.
