How much of a novice are you? Have you ever replaced a replaced a tire or jacked up a car? That's the first step is to safely lift the car and able to remove the tire.

Sorry, I didn't mean to pick on you or make fun of you, but I don't consider you a "complete novice" if you've done those other repairs. I hope you didn't take it the wrong way.

I'm trying to dig up a site that has good instructions with pics. You can also use the Chilton or Hayes manuals, but trying to see if I can find something on line.

haha still tryin to stop laughin at your screen name

1) remove caliper
2)remove brake pads
3)use large c-clamp to press circle thingy in caliper back into caliper
4)replace brake pads
5)replace caliper

hopefully someone will find a site with pictures and good instructions

You'll need a 3/8 Allen for the caliper pins, a screw driver or pry bar to slide the caliper off the rotor, and something to compress the caliper. Thats pretty much all there is to it.

Just a couple of tips: Leave in the old pads when your compressing the caliper so that you dont damage the piston. You usually machine the rotors with new pads, you will notice a grove in the rotors where the pad goes. If youre not doing anything to the rotors then sand the pads a bit on the edges so that they dont touch the rust on the rotors and squeek.
