hotchkis spring install???

I bought a set of hotckis springs and kyb agx struts and shocks for my car. I can't seem to find anyone that is willing to put them together for me. They all say that the spring is too stiff for their machines and the coils are wound too tight to get compressors put on them. So for those of you who have hotchkis springs, who did you go to have them installed?

Tried that. the coils are wound too tight to get the knuckles around them. I just got off the phone with Hotchkis and they have never heard of a problem like this. And it's not like I am going to junk shops either. I am just going to have call every place in St. Louis until I find someone that'll do it.

I have a Lisle McPherson strut compressor, and the only thing that needs to slide between the coils is a small u-bolt. Do you think that might work - see picture:

Re: hotchkis spring install???

I used a set of spring compressors that I bought at Advanced Auto for like $30. They were kind of a pain in the butt to remove after the upper shock mount was put on, but they worked out OK.

You have to get creative. Either pry open enough space between to coils, or hammer that sucker in, or start off between two coils that are wide enough, and beat the compressor around the spring until it gets near the bottom.

I did mine at my friend's muffler shop. His spring compressor made it a snap.
