Help Lowering

Hello everyone, I am trying to lower my 1995 z28 and am trying to do it very cheaply.

I am wondering if I can get by replacing only the springs, without new shocks/struts.

I know these springs are like dirt cheap, but I'm wondering if they will reduce the horrendous body roll my car has on turns.

Here is the link...

Thanks!

Re: Help Lowering

Body roll is controlled largely by the sway bars. You need to check for worn bushings and broken end links.

Don't do it!!!
Cheap springs just don't work. They will bottom out on every bump.
I tried to do it cheap and it just wasted money.

Re: Help Lowering

boomtufo I would check as Injuneer said above for worn components. If they all check out and are fine, the next thing i would look into is replace the sway-bar with a 35mm bar. The difference for my car was night and day.

If that doesn't cut it, don't cut your springs just to lower the car! The spring rate will be to low making your car prone to bottoming out on your bump stops. I would also not recommend replacing springs without doing shocks. The shocks should be matched to handle your spring rate otherwise they will be out of control on the new setup.

Re: Help Lowering

I learned the hard way there is no cheap way to lower your car. You not only have to buy springs, you have to buy better shocks, adjustable panhard, think about alignment. Pinion angle changes and possible sway bar links need to be shortened. I love the look of my car but it has been alot of work to get thinks right.
