Help ASAP

I am in the process of removing my k member but am having a problem with the A arm bolts connected to the k member/frame. The bolt is off but the screw is stuck (the one with the bushing towards the back of the k member). I have been hammering away and nothing has moved. Am I missing something? Any help would be great.

Re: Help ASAP

Common problem; never heard of a good solution. Peolple have tried heating it and penitrating oil. Probably going to take more brute force.

Re: Help ASAP

We decided to unbolt the shock and sprindle and drop the whole K member/A-arm out for a better "wacking" angle.

Its awesome to walk into a garage and see a black 98-2002 345hp packaged SS and a LT1 White Trans Am WS6 side-by-side. I'm rooting for the LT1 man!

Re: Help ASAP

Ya I am on my way over to drop it out this way...should be alot faster this way too. I also picked up some Spohn lower A-arms so I wont have to wack the crap out of the stock ones!!

Re: Help ASAP

hey Dustin clean out ur PM box!!!

Any way I got your mesg, I am going to be out of own for the day but tomorrow I will be working on the car. If you want to look at the lower A-arms you can check them out tomorrow, I really didnt even look at them. I got the K-member out and just slid everything to the side since I was fed up with everything. I did get the new K in tho...looks great!

Re: Help ASAP

Ya those bolts get stuck, BAD!! Best solution is a saws-all, you'll need a few short metal blades as the metal is very hard and dulls blades fast, and an air-chisel with a punch. Just cut through the bolt and bushing sleeve top and bottom. You can use the "pocket" of the k-member to guide the blade just make sure not to bite into it. Once you've cut out the bushing/a-arm use the chisel to pound out the remains of both ends of the bolt.

DO NOT use a torch or intense heat, I made that mistake and it didn't even get the bolts out. However about 3-4 months later one of my a-arms broke, the end where that verticle bushing is completely broke off of the rest of the a-arm. The other a-arm was cracked in those same spots too it just hadn't broken yet. It let loose goin around a corner, and caused me to slam into a curb doing over 1k in damage. I learned the hard way, DO NOT EVER heat suspension components, and if you have to don't reuse them, it's just not worth the risk.
