Good Brake Caliper Paint?

I want to paint my brake calipers black (I know it wont be that noticable, but I want it to match), but have heard that a lot of brake paints will easily chip and come off. I also want to put decals on, so I need to clear coat it too. What do I use for the clear coat? What is the best stuff that will last?
Thanks

Re: Good Brake Caliper Paint?

I cleaned mine with a brass wire wheel mounted on a drill, then cleaned them with brake cleaner. After they were clean I masked everything and gave them a couple coats of high temperature red. They look great!
Oh... This was 7 years ago.... they look almost as good today as the day I did it.
As far as decals and clear coat, I don't know. Anyone else out there have any tips?

VHT Caliper Paint seems to be some of the best out there. I used Red, Black, and Clear on my LS1 front brake upgrade and loved the way it turned out. Its rated at 900* and the red doesnt look orange.

Re: Good Brake Caliper Paint?

i'm using vht caliper paint, its just a high temp paint u could use engine paint too, int will chip off from the heat

i havent tested it out yet because i havent put on my ls1 calipers yet
i know they sell this caliper painting kit with a spray cleaner, brush on paint and crap, not worth it, just clean the calipers as best you can and mask it very well

I guess I'll use the VHT stuff. Glad I posted, I was going to buy that duplicolor caliper kit.

Anybody have experience with the decals though?

Paint the caliper then add decal and coat with clear caliper VHT paint. Brent Franker for decals. My buddy used duplicolor and it turned orange on him =/. Seems some people get it to work some dont.

Duplicolor engine enamel. Less expensive than VHT. Been on the wife's calipers for 2.5 years and mine for 1 year.
