I recently took my camaro out on the highway and it vibrates. HARD. at around 55 and especially when i let off the gas. it comes from what feels like the front end and under the center console. im not really sure what to look at. ive heard a lot about the drive shaft? not sure if this sounds like it since its more from the front of the car
How can i check it? also where is the transmission mount? i looked under and saw one. i think. at the end of the transmission. it held the ehaust pipe?
First thing I would check is the front end(just for peace of mind). Jack up the front end and move each wheel side to side. They should not move, if so then its one of the tie rods(either inner or outer) or possibly a wheel bearing. Could also be that your wheels are out of balance.
I would also check the trans mount. Yes its the one on the end of the trans that also has the exhaust hanger on it. These tear very easily, even with stock horsepower. You can use a block of wood and carefully jack up on the tail of the trans. Keep your eye on the mount itself. If it is bad then you will see it start to seperate.
I'm thinking transmission mount also
are you feeling the vibration in the steering wheel? or more with your feet and knees ?
does it do this if you put the car in neutral ?
and are you sure that you are not feeling vibration coming from headers / exhaust ?
I thought it was the tires too. I just replaced them yesterday since they need to be Anyway. But nope. no vibration in the steering wheel. Just the shifter and floor/center console area. And in neutral it vibrates a little.
I have had my trans mount break on me twice. Never had bad vibration but when i would take off hard it would sound like a bowling ball hit the bottom of my car. If that happens then trans mount for sure.
Hello I have the same issue, had balancing done 4 times and new set of tires and rims and front end check by tuffy but I didnt give up , have a friend 30yr mechanic found my problem and it is passenger front control arm, the bushing was shot, ORDER a new one will install on saturday. How we notice it , will we installed new rear slotted and drilled rotors and pads then installed in front and he found the problem
The orange bushing on that control arm is shot, that causes the vibration. Will be replacing it.
