eibach drag launch

alright....currently my car is lowered...in the rear i only have about 2 1/2 inches before i hit the bumpstop...this was actually fine when i was in dallas and the roads werent so bad...but my head hurts now in lubbock and i was wondering if i could get any pics of your cars with this kit installed...i dont really want to go back to stock springs and i dont really want another lowering spring...i am looking at longtubes and other than the pacesetters, apparently there is already a ground clearance issue, but no one mentions if this is with a stock ride height or not...if you guys with the drag launch springs could post up some pics i would really appreciate it...kind of want to know what im getting into before i go from almost no wheel gap to ???

Re: eibach drag launch

I have the Eibach Drag Launch springs in the back. The car sits about 1/2" higher than stock. Looks just barely OK with 28" slicks.... looks like crap with street tires.

Re: eibach drag launch

28" slicks require a bit of rework. The axle has been moved backward to prevent the tires from rubbing on the sheet metal at the front of the wheel opening, and the rear rubber bumper cover has about 1.5" cut off the leading edge, and the sheet metal behind the bumper cover has been hammered back. So far its proven to be adequate for the tire growth I see at about 130MPH, but I'm concerned about whether there is enough room for higher trap speeds.

Hey Fred, how did you move the rear end back? I have been thinking it would be good for me fitting those 28s in but can,t see a way to do it.
Thanks

Adjustable LCA's. Its only moved back about 1/4".... it was just enough to keep the tires from contacting the metal edge at the front of the fender wheel opening.

This is the 28.1" ET Drag, with only about 1/2" cut off the rear bumper cover. It needed to be cut back at least another 1" to not hit at approx 130MPH, and that was only on a dyno, not at the track.

I'm also not sure what the affect of the end type on the control arms will be. Until recently I was running poly ends.... now I have all rod ends. I figure there isn't going to be any compression at all now, where I suspect the poly might have provided some compression under load and allowed the axle to move forward slightly.

I guess the only way to find out is to get off my lazy a$$ and take it to the track and spray the 300-shot.

That should be interesting.

Thanks for the info on the LCAs.....I have been looking at some new ones, the Lakewoods are looking pretty beat.

I am going to go with some rod ends this time and see how noisy they are.
