Drag Launch Airbag Install ??

Hello Board-

I just purchased a drag launch airbag that I am going to use in my 94 Z28 passenger side rear spring. It consists of an airbag and several feet of rubber hose. I have two questions:
1) For install, can I just jack up the car and unload the rear suspension and jam it in between the spring?
2) How do you fill this and measure the PSI?

Thanks,

Paul

i'm not following so i'm not sure if this will help but when u jack up the car and unload the suspension the spring is still being compressed, u need to disconnect the lower shock mounting bolt and maybe the sway bar endlink to unload the spring

Not the rear springs, I could put jack stands on the body and let the rear come down and the stock springs come right out with very little help.
My Eibach drag launch springs took some muscle to get em in though.
Be careful and you can get the air bag in the spring, I was in a hurry when I put mine in and just hooked up about 4 inches or so of air line and let it hang out the spring perch. I zip tied it so it would not get in harms way and its very easy to reach on my car while laying on the ground. I use an air pressure gauge that will read down to 5 psi and be careful putting the air hose on it .....it fills up quick. Just go short bursts and then measure.

Its so easy to drop the axle and pull the spring, so you can insert the lower rubber pad and the airbag. I ran the air line along the e-brake cable with a nylon tie, left a bit of slack to account for axle movement, ran the line up on the inside of the fender liner, then through a small hole that already existed in the inner fender liner to the fender well, and put the valve inside the hatch area, on the flat part right next to the spare tire cover.... much easier to fill than crawling under the car.

When I go to the track, I always carry a portable air tank so I have air to adjust the airbag or inflate the tires. Any tire gauge will allow you to measure the pressure.
You can see the line in the pics:

Thats what was interesting about this air bag. No rubber pads, no valve on the air bag for a hose. It is just a bag and a rubber hose. It is made by Air lift so I contacted them for details and to see what else was needed.

Thanks for the pointers.

Re: Drag Launch Airbag Install ??

My air lift kit included 2 air bags, two bottom pads, the hoses and spring clips to hold them on the nipples on the bottom of the bags, a "tee" so you could use on inflation valve for both bags, and a second inflation valve so you could hook them both up separately.

Somewhere I still have one bag, one valve and a piece of hose if you are missing anything.

Injuneer-

I will take you up on the offer. I could use an air valve if you could locate it. Let me know what you want for it and I wil take it off your hands. I am contacting Air Lift to see about the other stuff.

Thanks,

Paul
