Do spherical bushings really make a difference
Do spherical bushings really make a difference
Do spherical bushings make a difference on a daily driven car that see's 2-3 driving events a year.
I currently have poly/spherical components on the car (PHB, LCA, TQ...) its diffentely time to replace them, I've ordered the additional poly ones because i'm unhappy with the additional road noise, granted they are the originial type bushing that spohn sold on his products (about 2 years old), he said that they have changed to a different type.
Any suggestions or comments would be greatly appricated.

Re: Do spherical bushings really make a difference
The additional road noise is a compramise to the handling and improvement of a rod-ended set. The problem with poly on both ends in our cars is that it doesn't allow the suspension to move properly. Although many many people run them with no problems.
Personally I run a billet aluminum set of PHR/LCAs with rod ends and won't use anything else. But... my car is not a daily driver, and I don't care about the road noise nor ride.
If you do stick with the rod ends, invest in some seals; they are made by seals-it, and available through summitracing.com. They do work and make the rod ends last a lot longer. I've got almost 20K on my QA1 rod ends with the seals, and they are still in great shape with no play.

Re: Do spherical bushings really make a difference
I figure my current rod ends are bad (over 2 years old), but ever since I have had them on the car I worry just about everytime I drive it because it sounds as if I've broken something and there is a consistant moan when driving on the highway betweeen 50-80mph coming from chassis brace area (Spohn TQ arm??).
I know nothings broken because I have replaced or rebuilt everything and had the pinion angle checked...etc...etc. I really don't want to go to 100% poly, but lately it seems my plans for the car have changed to more of a daily driver. And I do need something more civilized.
It's funny, even with all the noise, it handles as if its on rails
Thanks for the Post, I really appricate the feedback.
