Do convertables really need SFC's

Do convertables really need SFC's

So, I was recently told that the convertable F-Bodies have some extra reinforcement in the floorpan adn that sub-frame connectors are a waste of money. What are everyone's opinions on this?

Yes you should put sfc on. i put them on my vert last summer and it was day and night differance. 100% yes

Whom ever told you the factory reinforcement is sufficient is talk'n out their @ss.

Get double-diamond SFC's and you'll see a night and day difference.

If you have to ask this question, then you don't need them.

every car has a standard by which it must meet or exceed in chassis stiffness, any convertible car looses alot of torsional strength since there is no roof to the car, its easier to bend a sheet of metal than a sheetmetal box/cube, too meet gm's own preset standards for the car they add pieces of metal here an0d there to increase torsional rigidity, to meet standards

plain and simple, a hardtop car has the most torsional rigidity, next up comes the t-top car, and lastly in torsional rigidty is a onvertible car (with its factory sfc's)
i'm told that a convertible car with aftermarket sfc's is still not as torsionally stiff as a t-top car but it is definatly an improvment, if u want the torsional stiffness of a hartop car, u need a roll cage, which defeats the purpose of convertible

I didnt get the double diamonds, I just got the BMR tubular ones. Difference is incredible. Jack up the front passenger wheel a few inches off the ground... and the rear passenger tire starts to lift! It killed most of my squeaks and rattles, improved feel, handling, and traction.

and BTW this winter I'm getting a 6 point roll bar (bolt in).
