A different kind of squeak, and a clunk...
My car started to develop a squeak about 2 weeks ago. It was only audible when the car was going slow, and sounded rotational. At first I only noticed it under braking and thought it was my rear brakes. I did a well need brake job last week and the squeak is still there. I dont think its a spring issue because the sound is there even when traveling on flat ground.
I thought it was maybe a bearing or something, until 2 nights ago. I was coming home and made a sharp left hand turn. As I did so, the squeak got really loud and prounouced, "eeeeeeeeee" until I unloaded the right suspension and the car was flat again. I pulled into a parking lot and did a sharp right turn, no noise. Did another left and "eeeeeeee!"
I pretty much have it isolated to the left rear wheel, but what could be making this squeek? From the turn the other night, it sounded like it could be maybe a sway bar bushing? But I couldnt see a sway bar bushing squeaking when the car wasunt under a cornering load though. I do notice a clunk come frmo that corner when going over speedbumps sometimes. That leads me to believe it may be a shock issue.
I'm really confused as to what it could be.. any ideas? Tomorrow I may just go under there and tighten and grease away.
