Crossmember Brace

Question Crossmember Brace

I just had headers and a catted y-pipe installed and the y-pipe scrapes and bangs the center crossmember BAD. This is the one that's held on with 4 bolts.

I have weld-in subframe connectors on my car. Would it be okay to remove the factory crossmember and rely on the SFCs to support the chassis, or would it be a bad idea?

Do you mean the sheet metal brace that the stock IM pipe goes over? Did you try using some spacers between the chassis mounts and the brace to move it lower?

How far do you have to drop it? Washers, a nut, whatever fills the gap. If you need longer bolts, you can get them at a hardware store.
