Changing springs and shocks, what else is worth doing?

I am installing after market spring and shocks soon and wondering what else is worth changing while i am doing that. I know one front wheel had little bit of play top to bottom (i think or might have been side to side) I don'k know what causes that. Is there a good kit you can buy that would cover most of the stuff that would need replacing? The car is 93z28 with 100k miles on it.

Thank you

Replacing all four corners, or just the fronts?

You will likely need new upper spring/shock mounts. Old ones could be rotted, torn, and rusted to the shock shaft.

First, determine cause for upper-to-lower or side-to-side looseness.

Check upper and lower ball joints, upper and lower A-arm bushings. Check tie rod ends. Looseness could also be due to worn wheel bearings, which require replacement of the spindle/bearing/ABS cartridge.

The factory service manual will cover checking and replacement of each part. Free 93 manual download courtesy of GaryDoug:

Thank you,

I will be replacing all four corners. I will start taking everything apart soon while the springs and shocks are getting shipped and order parts that need replacing. The car was sitting in garage most of the time and I don't drive it in rain or snow, so should not be a big problem with rusted parts.

When I changed my shocks I upgraded to the 98-02 f-body front brakes. Easy enough to do at the same time. Just needed to get the spindles, caliper brackets and calipers. You will obviously need new rotors and pads (I also used C5 front brake lines). A nice upgrade for relatively cheap. A search on this forum will provide a lot more detail. I also changed the tie rod ends along with the upper and lower ball joints. I did not change the control arm bushings but kind of wish I did.
