Can any expert tell me what springs I have here?

Hey,

Sounds like an odd question, I know.

A few years ago I did the LS1 front brake upgrade and the guys from whom I obtained the brake parts gave me the front strut and spring assembly as well.

Now, I am about to do the Koni Single Adjustable shock swap and I was wondering what springs I have on the old struts.

They could be from a 98 and up V6 or from a 98 and up LS1 car. In either case, would those springs be the same as the original springs that I currently have on my 97 convertible (LT1 car)?

I would like to disassemble the old struts and use the spring and the top rubber mounting piece so that I can "pre-assemble" the konis on the old springs in order to speed up my install.

Obviously, I am *#@!-outta luck if the springs are not the same on the 98 and up cars as they are on my LT1. Any way to confirm for sure?

The markings on the bottom of the (crappy) 98 and up DeCarbon shock is
"G1 3621 0"

Thanks for the input.

If there's a part number on the spring I can look it up for you.

I will check for a part #

I took a quick look earlier but did not see one. I will take a closer look. Is the part number typically stamped into the spring itself?

Thanks.

Stock springs usually have a tag on them with a 3 digit code.

A marking...

One of the struts/spring assemblies had a yellow piece of tape stuck between the upper mount and the top of the spring.

It read "FPT 22133436"

Is that of any help?

I found this: http://www.xious.com/camaro/parts-springs.html

It says that's a 98/99 front spring part number, but it isn't listed in the GM Parts Manual so I'm not sure.

Then this page says its 99/00: http://www.compnine.com/chart.php?num=46342

gmpartsdirect.com says this: Part number 22133436 was superseded by part number 22197223.

Same springs for V6 and LS1 cars (98 to 02)??

Is that what we should conclude from that?

Are the weights of the two engines that similar?

The next question is would those springs have exactly the same upper spring mount as my 97 LT1 car and would the 98 & up springs be the same rate as my LT1 springs?

Any idea?

As far as the upper spring mounts, it sounds like you need a copy of the parts manual so you can cross reference the numbers for yourself. Download here: http://camaroforums.com/forum/showthread.php?t=25609
