C6 brakes on a Fbody

So, I've been looking around and I've seen a few C5 guys putting C6 Z51 brakes on their cars. So, if they can do that....can we use the C6 Z51 brakes on our car if we have the C5 bracket? Or is there an additional bracket needed to put the C6 brakes on an fbody?

Here's the link that brought this whole deal to my attention.

AFAIK you'd only be getting a slightly bigger rotor. You would need 18 inch wheels at least for sure.

I believe the pads on the Corvette calipers are slightly bigger, if you use the pad abundment brakte.. plus the calipers are more resistant to spreading..

From what I read, if you have the C5 bracket, theoretically you should be able to bolt on C6 Z51 brake rotors, C6 Z51 PA, and a C6 caliper.

You know, with the C5 braket, you can also theoretically put on C6 Z06 rotors and caliper.. The caliper mounting is on "ears" that move the caliper over..

GM actually did a smart thing, and made things standard across the Vette mounting brakes setup... nice..

However, you to be safe, you really want to double check if the C5 brackets you have, will withstand the extra loads and leverage with the bigger brakes..

Hmm, very interesting. It looks like the C6 ZO6 front brakes could fit as well. Looks like I may have to research this a little more. I already have 18" wheels, so that part is taken care of.

If I had 18 inch wheels I wouls seriously consider putting on those C6 ZO6 brakes, since I already have Bob's brackets on the car. Although admittedly it would all be for looks as all of the driving I have done (including beating the **** out of them on a road course) has not fazed the C5 brakes at all.

Those 6 piston calipers sure are sexy
