C5 Rotors but stock calipers?

Hey guys,

Couple of questions for y'all. I found a set of front C5 rotors and pads for about $20 and then another guy is giving me his rear C5 rotors and pads for free. All brand new.

Is it possible to just buy the adapter and then mount my stock calipers to the adapter or do I have to upgrade to the corvette calipers then too? I'm also figuring I can't use the pads since they're meant for dual piston - is that right?

Last, but not least, I only see front adapter plates. What if I want to upgrade the rotors on the rear?

Seeing as your sig says 1994, then no, you can't use the stock camaro calipers. The 1 piston cailper on our 1993-1997 cars is nothing like the C5 caliper and is in no way compatable with C5 brakes, you have to swap everything to go the C5 route.

Now if you had a 1998-2002 you could use the stock caliper, but only if you swapped the caliper bracket for the C5 and used the adapter bracket.

You can not use the rear C5 rotors on your car either. You might be able to use the rear C5 rotors if you have LS1 backing plates but you would lose the E-brake. I know because I'm 1/2 way done with the Rear C5 install on my 96.

You can use LS1 calipers and LS1 pads with your C5 rotor. You'll need longer brake hoses, bracket, LS1 spindle, and cut the lower ear off the LT1 knuckle.

Rear brake upgrade is quite a job. It is more difficult than the fronts. Don't do it unless your comfortable in your mechanical skills because it involves pulling the axles and messing with differential. Its also just as costly as the fronts with only 20% of the braking power vs 80% up front.

Thanks for the help everyone - even if it took 3 months to get an answer LOL I actually went ahead and bought new rotors from HPA. I couldn't find a better deal - $200 for 98+ rear rotors and 93-97 front rotors - both pairs drilled and slotted.
