C5 brakes and rotors
C5 brakes and rotors
I want to do the C5 brake conversion to my 94 LT1. I already have 17" rims and want to get the bigger breaks. I'm new to breaks in general so i was wondering what exactly I need to get to enable me to do a complete install of the C5 breaks to my camaro. I have on hold the C5 rotors and calipers already, so what else do i need? Thanks for any help or suggestions.
1) conversion brackets. Bob Bishop made a hundred sets or so total... and I belive LG Motorsports used to make these. I've also seen people post about cutting and welding the mounting holes farther out instead of the bracket idea. Brackets are nice in the fact that you can literally cut off the stock ears and install the brackets minutes later... welding obviously requires the knuckle be sent out for work but was cheaper the one time I found a guy who was doing it.
2) C5 rotors
3) calipers (including C5 Pad Abutement brackets)
4) C5 brake lines (including new banjo bolts and GM or NAPA copper washers).
5) AAA membership (a full-size or C4 spare tire will work as well... but they won't fit in the stock spare tire location).
6) 17" rims... these won't fit 16's.
That's about it. The brackets will be the tough part... not sure who's still making them beyond the GP going on right now for Bob's last batch (which I belive are all spoken for at this point).
