C5 brake upgrade or baer track kit?
C5 brake upgrade or baer track kit?
I'm trying to decide between finding some bob bishop brackets and doing the c5 brake upgrade or just purchasing the baer track it. Both set-ups should cost about the same so what should I do?
I'm also thinking of upgrading my shocks. As of right now I have stockers with eibach sportlines. I was thinking of running a complete set of Hal Generation F coil-overs. Just wondering though, are the rear Hals coil overs as well? Are hal's a good choice for a street driven car?

If the C5 kit will clear your wheels, go that route. That's the route I wanted to go but they didn't clear my rims. The Baer Track Kit has slightly smaller calipers and fit inside my Enkei 17" rims. The C5 caliper has a stronger design, but both kits greatly improve braking.

Baer rotors are significantly more expensive than C5 rotors when replacement time comes. C5 calipers are better than Baer Track kit rotors. Its a no brainer, go C5.

Re: C5 brake upgrade or baer track kit?
I currently have the Bear Claw 2 piston set up on my car, and it is great. After riding in a few F-bodies with the C5 brakes in them, I have to say that they are about the same stopping wise. If anything, the Baers stop maybe slightly better than the C5's. As long as you have OEM 17' wheels, the clearence will be fine on both. If you go aftermarket though, you might run into clearence issues. As for the 6 piston Baers, they will definatly hands down out stop any 2 piston set up. But you'll need some 18' wheels to clear them, and the 6 piston set up runs just under $3000.
I have the QA1 with the Hal coil-overs on my car as well. I used to have the eibach springs with Bilstein shocks. If you are trying to get better bite for a 1/4 mile run, I would reccomend my setup. If you would like to have something that corners well, then I would't reccomend them at all. They still are okay, but I lost quite a bit of handling when I made the switch. Unfortunatly you pretty much have to decide if you want to have a good set up for straight line driving, or for cornering. There really isn't a great combo for both worlds.
