Has anyone ever used something similar to this tool? Its a bushing driver set that JP Whitney sells. I'm considering purchasing ot to remove/install my ES Poly bushings, if its cheaper than having a machine shop charge me for each press. Thanks

Which bushings are you trying to replace? I did the entire ES "master kit" and nothing in the kit required anything more than a c-clamp to assemble the ES poly bushings. It was necessary to "burn" the old stock bushings out with a propane torch - but no press required.

I wanted to replace Frt/rear control arm, and panhard rod bushings. I wasn't looking forward to burning them out. Do you think this tool will work? I was thinking it'll be cheaper then having them all pressed out/in.

 

The tool may help in that it will press out some of the old rubber bushings. The problem is that the old rubber bushing are melted into the shells and when you press them out, some rubber still remains on the shells and it must be burned out.

 

Really? I didn't know that. Well I do have one of those propane hand held torches from Home Depot. Wonder if I should start melting them out

 

That is what I used to burn mine out. Messy, but effective.
