Powerbraking can tear up your transmission as well - you can do it, just don't take it to an extreme because you think you can just go get your pads replaced.

I think the rear brake pads are about the last thing that are hurt by powerbraking. Most of the abuse is to the engine, trans, u-joints and the rear. Your flooring the car and trying to stop the engine at the same time, its not good for the drivetrain. I did that for a while heating my tires up when racing then I finally got smart and installed a line lock. Think about braking the car hard from 70mph or more down to zero. A power brake has got to be a lot easier on the pads than trying to stop a 3500lb car from 70-0 in a hurry.

Now the line lock, that just enables the front brakes, so the rear is spinning free right?

Yes, you hold your foot to the floor, and push the switch. If you accidentally push it while driving, you won't have front brakes.

Stock rotors won't last long either. I have yet to install a line-lock, and after a good night at the track expect some warped rotors.

I burnt off about $500 worth of rubber one night three years ago. About 40 or 50k miles later I'm still on the same rotors... no problems
