brakes arent too good

ever since the new motor was put in my brakes arent that great i have new hawk pads all around and the breaks have been bleeded twice and no air is to be found so i have ruled out air in the system, i was told that its because of the size of the cam that i am not getting enough vacume for the power brakes

they are so bad that if i am doin like 20 and hit the brakes to the floor it comes to a stop but wont try and lock them up or the abs wont even kick in, i cant even stall my car up enough either because the breakes feel weak.

anyone have suggestions?

Re: brakes arent too good

Time for 98+ brake upgrade. No matter what pads you run in the stock setup, they will always suck and be very inefficient, especially with added power. As far as the vacuum, use a vacuum guage to check your vacuum, you may also have a leak somewhere.

yea but before the new motor the brakes were sufficient enough for me and my driving style. ill check for vacume leaks and put a vacume tester on it. what should the readings be around?

Re: brakes arent too good

on a stock motor i think its 21" HG? That would be ideal at idle..

If the pedal is really hard then you probably don't have enough vaccum for the assist. The booster should have enough vacuum stored for at least 2 pedal applies though. As long as you've got 15" vacuum you should be fine.
