Brake Upgrade???

I have heard that LT1 cars can upgrade to the LS1 calipers without doing any modifications. Is this so???

I really want to upgrade to two piston calipers, but I dont need baer brakes or anything crazy like that, as you can see by my mods.

Let me know if this is a direct swap without any hassle. Thanks.

Re: Brake Upgrade???

Best to post "brake" topics in "Suspension, Chassis and Brakes".... not on "LT1 Engine Tech". Moving.....

Re: Brake Upgrade???

Define "no modification". You will need an LS1 spindle to mount the LS1 2-piston caliper. It's more than just replace calipers and rotors.

Re: Brake Upgrade???

oh, i was told that you could even use the lt1 calipers... is that not possible?

I didnt know what was all involved. Is there anybody else that knows everything that needs to be done. This still has to be cheaper than upgrading to an aftermarket system.

Re: Brake Upgrade???

you can find "kits" on ebay with all the parts you need. You will need the spindles, rotors, calipers, caliper brackets, and probably new lines.

Well there's no way to convert the LT1 rotor to a twin piston caliper. What you'll need is mentioned above. It's a pretty simple R/R. I'd get some better pads while your doing it since they'll most likely come with stock pads.

Re: Brake Upgrade???

I am doing this very shortly. I am using ls1 calipers, spindle and better aftermarket pads and rotors. But unclear on one thing..do I use ls1 brake lines or lt1 brake lines for this swap. And what set of stainless lines would I need if go to this and does anyone make stainless lines that work on traction control cars?
Also will my lt1 bolts work to bolt up the ls1 calipers and spindles or will I need some hardare and if so anyone know what bolts and stuff to buy so can do job without a lot of running around.

Re: Brake Upgrade???

The easiest way would be to use all LS1 parts. Hardware, lines, fastners, etc...
