Brake line tech

Humor me ...

Can I order a braided line kit for a 98-02 F-Body and ...

use the 2 front lines on my 98 TA (ther rear already has braided lines)

use the 3 rear lines on my 96 race car? (doing custom lines up front)

Thunder said the rear lines were totally different.

I realize the CALIPER is different, but find it hard to believe the fittings for the hard lines and calipers are different. That wouldn't make any sense being as the rear housings are the same.

can anyone confirm?

I really don't want to breach the brake system on my 98 to see if the fittings were the same in the caliper. I know they are for the hard lines ...

Re: Brake line tech

I'm using the 3 rear lines from Earl's 98+ kit on my 93. They fit fine although the driver side rear line is a bit too long. I drilled a new hole in the bracket to move it away from the caliper enough to make the bend in the brake line less severe.

Re: Brake line tech

That's good info ... and just as I suspected.

Thanks

The 97-02 cars don't have 3 rear hoses. They have 4 hoses because of the 4 channel ABS. You can use the short lines to the rear calipers, but you will need to do something for the hose from the axle to the body.

Traction control cars need that extra line.

My '98 TA w/o traction control only needed 3 lines The rear ABS is a reluctor wheel on the carrier, not at each wheel
