Bouncy Rear Suspension

Howdy:

My suspension in my 2001 SS is too loose and bouncy in the rear and I need suggestions.

My suspension setup includes:

Eibach Springs and Bilstein shocks. http://www.slponline.com/view_product.asp?P=70002

Reinforced Panhard Bar:

Heavy Duty LCA's

21mm Rear Anti Sway BAr:

SubFrame Connectors:
http://www.slponline.com/view_product.asp?P=70801

Strut Tower Brace:
http://www.slponline.com/view_product.asp?P=70005

Tires: BFG G-Force KDW's

What can be done to tighten up the rear suspension and get rid of the bounciness?

Re: Bouncy Rear Suspension

if the eibachs are variable rate, that's probably it. go with linear eibachs (125# or 150#) and weight jackers (ride height adj) from strano. he could revalve your bilsteins too, that should eliminate the bouncy-bouncy feeling.

They are variable rate springs.

What about Koni adjustable shocks in the rear?

Re: Bouncy Rear Suspension

Is your car lowered? Do you have LCA relocating brackets? When you lower your car, you change the angle of the LCA's, and will cause wheel hop & "bouncy rear suspension". The proper solution is relocating brackets, which will correct the angle by lowering the mounting point of the LCA's. The ideal angle would be parallel to the ground, or for some applications, even having the rear LCA mount sit lower than the front mount. Nevertheless, lowering your car w/o LCA relocating brackets will result in your front mount sitting lower than the rear mount, and you don't want that...

The car is not lowered. The rear LCA sits slightly lower in the rear.

Re: Bouncy Rear Suspension

Maybe adding a quality, aftermarket torque arm would help, seeing how that's the only suspension part connected to the rear that you haven't upgraded...?

Re: Bouncy Rear Suspension

Some of these posts make me think the suspension geometry may be off. The back end sits a few inches lower than the front. Would an adjustable Torque arm be a good idea?

Some of the problems are the suspensiuon is overly bouncy in the rear in a straight line, there is excessive weight transfer to the rear when accelerating, and when accelerating around corners, the weight transfer is to the back rear tire on the outside of the corner, and it can be so bad as to lead to wheel spinning.

Re: Bouncy Rear Suspension

yes, koni shocks will help as the stock shocks are inadequate even for the stock springs.

35mm front sway bar will also hunker down the front and help too i think in turns. i'm running the hollow 35 from Strano and noticed a big diff. i already had konis, subframes, ground control adj fronts, and linear eibachs.

i also used to run the variable eibachs and thought they were too bouncy even w/ the konis. much better now
