ball joint and tubular a arms??? please help
hello guys i need help desperately. i purchased a pair of tubular adjustable lower a arms used without ball joints and cant figure out what brand they are.previous owner didnt know either they look just like all the others (umi, bmr, spohn, etc) except where the shock bolts to it,instead of having a plate it has small diameter tubes for the shock mounting bolts. they are grey hammertone in color. well another problem im having is with the ball joints i have a brand new pair of factory replacements and there a tad to big. now has anyone tried to replace the ball joints in there tubular lower a arms and ran into this problem???are the bmr umi etc.. balljoints brand specific??? i looked on the umi website and it said they have moog problem solver ball joints, but no part# i emailed them for the part# they use to see if maybe that one will work. if only i knew who made the a arms i could contact them for the correct ball joints. if anyone as a tubular lower a arm off the car and can take a peak at the part# on the ball joints would also point me in the right direction. thanks in advance and post any helpful info.
thats not it!!!
thansk for the reply, the smaller tubes where the shock bolts mount look like that however the other tubes look just like a umi, bmr,or spohn, and have the chromoly qa1 rod ends also. i cant seem to post the picture of it.anyhow do you by anychance have tubular lower a arms? maybe you can give me the ball joint part#.thanks for the help!!
Big thanks blue28!!
Hey thanks for the link and the info i actually went to a couple local parts store and checked all the different brands of balljoints for our cars to see if one might work for my tubular a arms. No luck!!! I purchased a set of moogs previously and they were the same problem. I actually contacted bmr today cuz i had a buddy on ls1tech who said he had the same problem with factory replacement lower ball joints not fitting his tubular a arms.he said bmr mentioned grinding a little off the diameter of the replacements and maybe a little off the inner cup of the a arm. When i called bmr today the tech guy told me the same thing with me not even mentioning this. I just told him the replacements were a little to big. He also said a couple other people had the same problem. But i searched and searched and found nothing on this issue. So i quess ill give it a shot since this was my last resort from the get go. Thanks for your help as you were the only one. Also i will keep you updated!!
