Question Adjustable Panhard Bar!!

I just received my UMI " on car " adjustable P.B. the problem is that it doesn't come with instructions on how to adjust it to a lowered car. I'm running sportlines on my ,01 ss. Any help would be great the proper way to adjust it.

Re: Adjustable Panhard Bar!!

You make the panhard rod shorter than stock, that way the axle will move back the 1/4" it gets off centered by.

You want to center your tires side to side with the body. Measure the distance between the outer wall of the tire and the fender lip; adjust until it's equal on both sides.

Re: Adjustable Panhard Bar!!

Do NOT assume you need to shorten it. Measure it so you can get it even, as noted in the post immediately above.

bmr has instructions on their site. When you get the stock one off measure the bolt holes from center to center, adjust your new one to the same length - then adjust from there if needed.

Re: Adjustable Panhard Bar!!

You can take a piece of string and tie a bolt to it for a primative plum bob and tape it to center of the wheel arch. Then you can measure the distance from the tire sidewall to the string. Put the rear of the car up on jackstands under the rearend sothat the weight of the car is on the rear and then you will have room to adjust the panhard rod without being cramped. That is how I did it on my car. You may also want to consider the panhard rod bracket that Jeg's sells as well. It corrects the geometry as the suspension travels through any ups and downs of the car as you drive. The adjustable panhard rod is only part of the equation when you lower the car. Most don't don't do it and when the car hits a dip in the road it will have the tendancy to dance form side to side as it does. Hope this helps and again, it's up to you. Have fun..
