99 T/a Abs

My ABS inop and brake light are on and I don't know why. My friend has a tech2 and we scanned the chassis and engine computers but the scanner would not read the ABS. I got a used ABS module (99% sure it works) and the same thing is happening. Should I try re-bleeding the system? ABS codes are foreing language to me.

Re: 99 T/a Abs

The "BRAKE" light comes on (in addition to when the e-brake is used) when the system detects a difference in pressure between the front and rear braking circuits. Check your fluid levels - low fluid in one of the master cylinders two chambers can cause a problem. Check for leaks in the braking system. Bleed the system, starting at the ABS unit to insure there is no air in one of the circuits.

I will retry the bleeding but the brakes work great. I don't think their is any air in the system but I will go through the process again.
