97 Firebird Brake Problems

I havn't driven the bird in about a year, when the person who drives it daily came to me and said something was wrong with the brakes. So I take it for a drive and Holy Crap is something wrong with the brakes. The pedal goes almost to the floor, the brake light is on, and its grinding bad from the front. So I jack it up pull the front wheels and find no pad material left on the drivers side pad, the passenger side was bad but not as bad as the drivers side. So I did pads and rotors on the front checking to make sure the caliper was not frozen. The brakes still arn't right and the light is still on. It feels like the brake on the drivers side is draging. I'm going to guess that the flex line (original 175,000 miles) is restricting flow back to the brake system. To replace them I'll need to bleed the brakes, but I can't do that with the brake light on right? any sugustions comments solutions would be great

Thanks,
Pat

Which brake light is on? If its the "ABS INOP" light, you have to "home" the motors before you bleed the brake. If its the "BRAKE" light, its indicating unequal pressure between the front and rear circuits, and you can bleed them.
