3rd 4th gen front end

i have an 87 iroc, and i want to pu a tubular k-member and control arms
i can not find tubular control arms anywhere for my 3rd gen's modified macpherson strut suspension

i was wondering if i can swap in a 4th gen tubular k-member and control arms switching my suspension to an sla
i know i will need spindles and brakes, will i need to switch to a rack and pinion or will i need a new master cylinder

has anyone ever done this before and how hard is it

Re: 3rd 4th gen front end

Spohn Performance just came out with 3rd Gen A-arms..... and Spohn's 3rd Gen parts are EXCELLENT (as are the 4th Gen)"

http://www.spohn.net/product.cfm?productid=1495

Or go to AJE:

http://www.ajeracing.com/camaro.htm

The pictures are 4th Gen, but the parts list has 3rd Gen K-members, A-arms.

AJE is one option, an expensive one.... If you want to save money and get the same quality go with P.A. I love my tubular front end, it fit perfect. Talk with Jason he will take care of you. I have his K-member, A-arms, Manual Rack with bump steer and coil overs. It looks beautiful, couldn't be much happier. go to www.paracing.com you wont be let down. If you have any questions you can get ahold of me at strokedyellowz@aol.com

Setting up the geometry correctly may be quite difficult and involve considerable fabrication to the strut towers to accept the 4th gen parts. I think you'd be better off to swap the whole front subframe and all and do a splice at the firewall area. Then you only have to figure out how to get the bodywork to match up between years or graft the 3rd gen stuff back onto the 4th gen front. It's not impossible with enough time and money, but I don't think I'd consider it an "easy" swap.

Look at BMR, PA-Racing ... there are a lot of companies that make front tubular control arms for 3rd gens. I had a set a while ago, when I had a 3rd gen, from PA-Racing.
