okay so i need to get my ebrake working so i can safety my car.

I haven't gone under it to see whats up yet, just pulled the ebrake handle inside the car.
I cant even pull it up to get one click, if i pull the rear brakes engage and the car will not roll, but i cant even get it to click once.

what should i be expecting when i go under my car tomorrow to try and figure out whats wrong? is this just a simple adjustment.
