1993-up ground control coilovers

has anybody used the ground control coilovers with any luck. i ordered a set and it only lowered the car a 1/2 inch all the way around. ?????????????????? i have been doing custom air ride trucks for years and lowering cars with diffrent springs and even coilovers. i really dont know whats up with this but really need to figure it out. i have contacted motorweb the people i bought them from and ground control and eibach and every bodys confused on why. no sh-t me to. the only thing that looks funny is the upper spring perch for the front. the one that shows in the instructions looks like it is flat on the bottom and has three studs on the top. mine has about 3 or 4 inches that hangs down for the coil spring to set into the groove. mine also has two studs and two bolt holes that bolt the strut to the upper control arm and then through the strut tower. the big question is ,,,,,,,,is there diffrent types of upper spring perches or are all these the same? the first thing they told me was i had to buy kyb/agx struts for this to work, and that was the problem. unfortunitly they were wrong. i bought kyb/agx 8 way ajustable struts and shocks (over $450) later and reinstalling everything this did not help at all. it still lowered the car 1/2 inch. i measurred the front coil springs from both the stock ones and the eibach and the eibach were like almost 4 inches shorter than the stock ones. i know the spring rate matters but i thought hmm 4 inches should make alot of diffrence but i was wrong. the rear was the same way???? 1/2 inch. the rear springs were the same way. alot shorter but only 1/2 inch of drop after it was back on the ground. i drove it around hopping they would seat in and compress down alittle but no luck. it rides great but it should since its only 1/2 lower. any helpfull info would be great. you can post something or e-mail me at unruh_larry@yahoo.com

thanks guys

Talking done

i wish it was that easy. the problem is the company motorweb you i bought the kit from sent me 10 inch springs insted of 8 inch springs. the only way i fiqured that out was by calling ground control. the company motorweb told me that since i installed the springs already they would not refund my money or replace the springs becouse there were no defects to warranty!!!!!!!! needless to say i was pretty upset. i called and talked to a man name stan at groud control and he and the crew over at ground control figuered out what was wrong buy looking at pics i sent them and offered to send me the right springs at no cost. i could not beleive that there was still a company out there that backs up there product that much. even though the company motorweb was not an authorized dealer and i didnt buy the setup from ground control they still took care of me. now thats customer service. so if you are in the market for a coilover set up call and talk to stan the man at ground control (530)677-8600 or email him if you have any questions about a kit you have now at stan@ground-control.com

thanks for your help anyway

Won't help, it's not a spring issue. I run 10" springs on my car, it's what's standard in the kit and @ 1.2" lower than stock the height collar is in the middle of threaded sleeve. In other words, the spring isn't what's causing your problem.

well i talked to the engineer over at ground control and he seems to think this is the problem. so there sending me new 8 inch springs for the front and 9 inch for the rear. i have been doing custom airride and drops and lifts for about 15 years and i know quite abit about suspensions but this ones been a pain. the company i bought this kit from send everything in a big box not in separte boxes with part numbers. but oh well i will try this and if it doesnt work i will return the kit and build and airride setup for it. something i should have done in the first place. i will repost when i get it back together and let everybody know how it worked out. thanks for any sujestion and i hope everyone gets car parts for christmas.

hey guys, just updating evryone on the coilover problem. ground control sent me a 8 inch spring for the front and a 9 inch spring for the rear and everything is good to go. the front is acually to low with the ajuster sleeve all the way down im taking out road dots. i have a bagged and bodydropped s-10 thats for. so im raising the front back up just a inch or so. the rear sets perfect for me but i like my cars low. the kit i was sold by motorweb was for the car and kyb/agx struts but the 10 inch springs were to tall, which i kind thought when i had to compress them down to put the struts back together but didnt know how much spring sag there would be. yea the 10 inch spring will work on some applications with ground control coilovers but it depends on what sleeves you have and the tophat as to how much drop you get. well i have learned a new lesson so im not to upset. lol well i think i am officially a ground control coilover expert now. lol if anybody has similar issues shot me an email and ill try and help you out, or point you in the right direction. thanks agian for all the sujestions and try and keep it below 200 m.p.h.
