Strange 12 Bolt/Dana S60 Rearend Group Purchase

The stock 10 bolt doesn't stand up to alot of horsepower. Especially when you bolt on sticky tires for the track. We've put together a group purchase to save you some money and to beat the Spring rush for these!

12 Bolt -

Gear ratios available are 3.42, 3.73, 3.90 and 4.10. The 3.90s will be noisy so Strange doesn't promote this one. This rearend now comes standard with the Super Strength posi. Each one is shipped ready to be installed. You will just need to swap the brakes from your current rear. Shipping is freight collect for this product so you will need to take care of that with the driver when he delivers.

GP prices -

PRG210-PRGOP8 Fully assembled and dyno tested rearend (less brakes). Features include 3.150" ID housing ends, 33 spline S/S axles, 1/2" studs,33 spline Super Strength posi unit, choice of 3 channel (center) or 4 channel (axle) ABS ring installed, ABS sensor installed, choice of caliper mounts (1993-'97 or 1998-'02), U-1602 S-series yoke(1350), cross over U-joint, u-bolts, chrome cover and your choice of US Strange standard gear set - 3.42, 3.73, 3.90 or 4.10. (part # for cars with ABS sensor at the axles - usually for traction control cars) $2219.99

PRG210-PRGOP-14 Fully assembled and dyno tested rearend (less brakes). Features include 3.150" ID housing ends, 33 spline S/S axles, 1/2" studs,33 spline Super Strength posi unit, choice of 3 channel (center) or 4 channel (axle) ABS ring installed, ABS sensor installed, choice of caliper mounts (1993-'97 or 1998-'02), U-1602 S-series yoke(1350), cross over U-joint, u-bolts, chrome cover and your choice of US Strange standard gear set - 3.42, 3.73, 3.90 or 4.10. (part # for cars with ABS sensor on the top of the pumpkin) $2219.99

R5206 Upgrade to aluminum support cover $114.99

gmbbp Options: You will either need to send in your brake backing plates or you can purchase a set to be built into the rear (1998+). If your car has traction control you will need to send in your backing plates along with your axles so Strange can use the reluctor rings. $229.99

gmbbpcore Options: If you can't have any vehicle downtime we can charge you $229.99 for a set of backing plates and send them to Strange to be build into your rear. After your 12 bolt is installed you'd send your stock backing plates to us and we'd credit you $175.00. This option is only available if your car does not have traction control or the ABS at the axles. The backing plates are only required for 1998+ cars.. $229.99

Dana S60 -

Dana S60 features -
35 spline axles
HD Posi
Chrome Cover
3 or 4 channel ABS

You will need to send your brake backing plates in just before the rear is built so they can be built into the rear. We can sell a new set to you separate. The stock driveshaft will need to be shortened by 1.625".

The following gear ratios are available - 3.54, 3.73, 4.10, 4.30, 4.56, 4.88, 5.87.

The weight difference between Dana 60 and 12 bolt is 20-25 lbs, the Dana is heavier. Dana rear is fully assembled with posi weights around 215 lbs and 12 bolt is around 189 lbs (weight with brakes). The weight difference between 12 bolt and 9" is about 12-15 lbs the 12 bolt being lighter.

Ring gear sizes:
12 bolts ring gear only 8.875 OD
9 ring gear is is 9" OD
Dana has ring gear of 9.75 OD which is alot stronger than 12 bolt & 9".
The standard Dana gear (not Pro) can withstand close to 1200 RWHP.

The True-Track is posi is standard along with Power-Lock. These are good for about 600rwhp. The Dana's posi is alot stronger than a 12 bolt and the 9". This is because the Dana Posi's are 35 spline, 12 bolt is 33 spline and the 9" is a 33 spline.

GP prices -

yeah ill most likely take a strange 60 as well. do the torque arm bolts go all the way through the housing like the mosers on the dana 60s? also, do you offer a posi for more than 600 rwhp?

the dana 60 is alot stronger than a 12 bolt, so itll probably be better for a 750 rwhp car

Whats the suggest HP rating on the 12 bolt as compared to the S60. I have seen some saying the 12 is good up to 1000HP.

Anybody have any say on the ratings numbers?

From what i ve heard and also read the stock 12 bolts posi(the 9 clutchs) begin to suffer at 700hp and the HD posi(14 clutchs) can reach the 1000hp.

A few have requested shipping quotes. These rears are shipped freight collect from Strange so we aren't able to get a firm quote. Rates change with the price of fuel so it wouldn't be the same when they ship anyway. A rough estimate is usually in the $125. - $250. range. The trucking co would call a few days ahead to set up the delivery and prove the shipping amount due.

The S60 was released early last year. A number of customers have gone with this for high horspower applications (don't have a firm max number yet). The Strange 12 bolt has been fine behind motors producing 500-600hp.

We already have 2 orders in for this one!
