lets start a gp on Centerforce clutches
I can't say anything about Spec or Mcleod however I have and still have the Centerforce dual friction and have had zero problems. It's been a great clutch and the next will most likely be the same when this one finally wears out. I've had this one for 4 years and still going strong....

Re: lets start a gp on Centerforce clutches
I've had 3. The first would not go into reverse. Then I got a redesigned replacement which was supposed to fix the reverse issue...same issue. 3rd I sold before I installed it. Do a search on centerforce problems.
Re: lets start a gp on Centerforce clutches
I did a ton of research on these clutches. I found the street twin to be the best clutch -- But that's a little to much then what I want to spend. I been reading allot of problems with spec. Many only get 3k or so miles out of them also they happen to be exploding in some cars on the ls1tech site. Centerforce is defently the clutch I'm going with.
Re: lets start a gp on Centerforce clutches
Hey whatever you go with is fine with me. I am just stating the problems that I have had, as well as alot of friends. Maybe they have been re redesigned or somthing but I had nothing but problems with them. I have a street twin now, and with all the reinstalling it would have been cheaper from the get go. I have also heard alot of negatives about the spec, but from the people I know who have them they seem to have less issues then CF.

Well, as stated above mine has been flawless since the day I had it put in. I may have just recieved a good one, I'm not sure however it's still strong enough to break some new gears I had just put in the car last Nov. Just now able to replace the gears, next will most likely be a 12 bolt and suspension work....

Re: lets start a gp on Centerforce clutches
I have a center force dual friction clutch as well... it was installed back in 99, so i've had for close to 7 years now, and have put roughly 50-60,000 km's on it.
When i got it, everyone raved about them. a few years after, everyone hated them. Not sure what happened, but it really seemed like the design?/quality went down hill.
I've had little to no problems with mine and it still grabs perfect with no slipping what so ever!!
good luck with your choice!
