GP on McLeod Street Twin or Centerforce Dual Friction Clutch Setups???

I will be putting one of these setups in my '95 Z28 LT1 M6 Car in the next 2-4 weeks and would love to see a nice price on a Group Purchase... Anyone else with me???

I could use one NOW, but may need as much as a week to have the cash. I might get away with another 2-4 weeks on my stock clutch, but we have a Friday Night Burnout Contest at the office where I work, and I hold the record so far in my Z28. On a VERY sad note, my Boss has a new (NEW, 2004, about 300 miles on it now) Neon SRT-4 that has 17" wheels with some decent tires on it, and he's a very close 2nd place contender in the burnout contest! My tires are wider and they melt the asphalt a much deeper tone of black, of course my weight transfer makes it exponentially harder to melt my tires, but the little Neon moves. We're going to have a cookout at his house over a weekend sometime soon to have drag races on the road in front of his house. There are at least 8-10 of us that have high performance cars of some kind, and there is a wide variety from the Neon to a Porsche Carerra. My Z28 is probably the fastest in the 1/4, but that Neon may take me from 100-130ish.

So I gotta have that clutch ASAP!!!

Are you high? there's no comparison in the two set ups.

Street Twin is untouchable for dirveability, durability, and total torque capability. Just can't do that with one clutch disk... go for the McLeod.

(I've ran mine for 4 years now... 3 race seasons... 3 broken rearends... never once has it slipped or burt.. awesome design IMO).

Good luck guys. If you get a GP going, I'm in for an adjustable master cylinder (I got one of the original "sleeve-your-own" units when McLeod first released this kit). If the price is good I may even be in for a aluminum flywheel (I'm running the steel one right now).

OK, I'm an idiot... I thought the Centerforce 'Dual Friction' setup was similar to the McLeod Street Twin Design... I just looked it up and I was taken by the name... no comparison. I've got to go with the McLeoud too... I hate waiting!!!

Hey, educate me a little more if you would... You mentioned possibly going to the aluminum flywheel. Aside from the obvious quicker winding up from the lighter weight, what are the pros and cons of the aluminum flywheel? What affects does it have on grip??? That's my main concern.

I am absolutely brutal on my clutch, and that's why I'm going to the McLeod Street Twin Design. I have some super sticky tires on my car now, and once I get the clutch in it, I'm pretty much expecting my rear end to grenade. If it does, I'll have to go with a Moser or Strange 12-bolt rear end. After that, the tires have to be the weak link, but the clutch will go back to taking a real beating. I want to make sure I'm putting the most bulletproof clutch in my car possible. So if that means staying with the steel, so be it.

As for them being backordered, if someone would go ahead and do a group purchase, I would go ahead and buy with a percentage down and a percentage when the parts shipped if that sounds fair. I've gotta get one anyway, and I've gotta wait anyway, so I may as well get in on the Group Purchase thing. I'd think somebody would do a GP for us. These babies Ain't Cheap!!! I had to rob 8 Liquor Stores and 4 Photo Huts to get enough cash for mine!!!

So what's the story on this GP? Is it dead in the water because no vendor has enough? I called thunder racing and he said McLeod is indeed backed up.. if we want to do it we can but it's a 4-6 week wait. He said something about a 10% discount... which on a $1000 clutch would be $100.00 off.

I don't know about the rest of you but I still need one of these.

I have cash in hand, and I can barely do a burnout without the clutch slipping anymore. Failure is imminent. I am ready to buy!!! I'd say I have less than 2 weeks given my driving style and frustration level.

Hey man this is very doable. I've talked to McLeod and they ARE NOT backed up at all. They told me they could fill my order and have it shipped out in a few days. So let's get this together and call McLeod and do it, cause I need a clutch for 700rwhp!
