Wish me luck - spring install

I just got done reading the details on spring installation on www.ls1howto.com and I've decided today is the day. I have to go buy a T50 Torx bit but after that I'm gonna dig in.

I might even order a new set of sway bars this afternoon.

Mod-bug, I've got it now!

I actually didn't get started till 5:00. I went out at noon and put the car on stands and took off the lug nut covers on one wheel. Then my neighbor came over and felt like chatting so I didn't get anything else done till after I picked the kids up from school. At least I'm done with the front springs now. I'll get the back ones tomorrow morning. The fronts took 3 hours 45 minutes working by myself.

See you at Hooters tomorrow night.

The backs will take 10 minutes if the car is already on stands. Just jack under the pumpkin, undo bottom shock bolts, jack stands under rear subframe just infront of LCA mount, lower axle, and change springs. Reverse. The fronts are only harder the first time. They are much easier if you do a couple... Less then 2 hours to do mine, beer included.

No,I got done at 09:45. But then I had to clean up the driveway, take a shower and get the kids to their soccer games.

Looks great! Drives even better!

Are these lowering springs?

Any interest in helping me loktite a driver-side shock rod nut?

Yeah they are the DMS springs and they drop it about an inch. Maybe a hair more.

Need some help? Let me know. The Passenger side was a breeze. I did that in the dark. BTW - I have air tools. That makes those strut nuts a breeze. I don't know why you'd want to loktite one though. As far as I know the big problem is getting them off once they rust, not the other way around. But whatever!

Let me know.

This my Koni's second vehicle. I didn't watch them be removed frmo the first, but apparently they were a tiny bit corroded. The nylock nut won't hold for more than about 2 months before coming loose. It's inconvenient to drive to determine the size of the nut now that it's installed. It was suggested that if the threads are just slightly worn enough, to address it with blue lok-tite.

I also need to replace some sway bar mount bushings, tranny bushing, and torque arm bushing. Preferably b4 next Friday night.

Maybe I'll see you @ H(o)(o)ters...

I just installed springs in my car on sunday. Took a total of 7 hours to install all 4 and a panhard rod. That included travel time, back and forth to different places for tools, lunch, and a few short breaks. My buddy and I did it. If I were to do it again, I think I could have all 4 changed in 4 hours.
