Tech Ideas
I have an adelphia cable modem and want to finally setup my own file server I can store images on, acces from work, host my own web page. Adelphia is dynamic so I am looking for ideas/suggestions.
I have a 2K server box on my home lan with 512MB RAM @ 500MHz enough to do what I want for now...

Re: Tech Ideas
you can get a free subdomain from quite a few places, but my favorite is no-ip (http://www.sytes.net/)
then basically set up IIS on your windows2k box (or install apache, recommended for a windows build that old) and you've got yourself a webserver. at your router you must forward the traffic from port 80 to your server box so people from the outside world can access it.
i HIGHLY recommend upgrading to winXP professional or Server2003 so that you can use remote desktop. i believe you can use terminal services in win2k to do the same thing but i've never messed with it.
what you want to do is what i've got running right now
ask any questions you need
